Looking for Volunteers for the CS-SIS Cool Tools Cafe

As you may know, CS-SIS is hosting a program at the AALL Annual Meeting called the Cool Tools Cafe in which our members will be demonstrating new gadgets and technologies for use in law libraries.  It will consist of 5-10 minute informal demonstrations at various tables around the room.  Attendees can wander from demo to demo as they please.

The Cool Tools Cafe is scheduled for Sunday, July 11, 12:00pm – 1:15pm at CCC-Four Seasons Ballroom 1.  This is immediately after the Keynote speaker in the room right next door.

So far, the following people have offered to demo these technologies:

  • Dan Blackaby – Creating video
  • Tom Boone – Dropbox
  • Bonnie Shucha – Gimlet
  • Jason Eiseman – Google Wave
  • Debbie Ginsberg – iPad for Libraries
  • Stephanie Davidson – Jing
  • Elizabeth Farrell – LibGuides
  • Cindy Bassett (Cindy is one of our grant winners!) – Tegrity
  • Hadi Amjadi – Mobile Apps for law libraries
  • Scott Frey – Yahoo Pipes
  • Jennifer Duperon & Jill Smith – Zotero

We are looking for a few more volunteers. If you're planning to be in Denver, would you consider joining us?

We need a few more presenters. It would be a nice presentation opportunity with minimal prep time or stress for you and it would really help CS make this program a success.  We need:

  • One more person to assist Dan Blackaby with a demo on creating video (maybe someone from the Education Committee?) – we'll need a camera also
  • One or two more people with iPads to assist Debbie Ginsberg
  • Two or three more people to assist Hadi Amjadi with Mobile Apps (We'd like two people with Droids – Hadi has one – and two with iPhones – any others?)
  • One or two people to demo Evernote
  • One or two people to demo Twitter
  • One or two people to demo Flickr or other photo/video sharing service
  • One or two people to demo cool Google apps
  • or, if none of these work for you but you have another suggestion, let us know.

It would be ideal if you have your own gadget or laptop to use for the demo, but if you don't, we might be able to round something up for you.

We're also looking for a few greeters/guides to direct people to the appropriate tables and generally help control the chaos.

If you're able to help, please contact Bonnie Shucha or Sally Irvin, Coordinators of the Cool Tools Cafe
